Everybody Knows This is Nowhere
old wool blankets, canvas binding, ink
Dimensions Variable
2024

This installation was made specifically for and with the students of Grand Valley State University and was installed in the Calder Center for the Arts in the winter of 2024. These Disfunctional Mazes spread out, overlap and combine, sprawling across the room and climb ing up onto the wall.

Along these journeys, small "treasures" which were found on my daily dog walks. I rescued these and made black ceramic mounts and hung my "catch" on the walls, - small relics, saved from the mud and dust of Detroit streets and preserved as art. Something I love about these objects is that each is one of a multiple, something distributed all over the country or maybe the world. But because of its unique path, its specific kind of bedraggled, each is truly unique from all that is has been through.

This exhibition was curated by Dulcee Boehm and kindly assisted by so many of her wonderful students who worked with me through out the planning, installation, documentation and deinstallation of the exhibition.
